December 30, 2019
I was out of town with friends and didn’t want to work. A good client calls me, he is sorry, but he overlooked the fact that on 31st December one of his claims against a contractual partner will fall under the statute of limitations. He briefly describes the case to me, which on the one hand is quite clear and on the other hand means an exceptionally good fee. We discuss the possible arguments over the phone, and he sends me the relevant documents to substantiate his claim by e-mail.
I still have 3 hours, then I have a date with my friends to go to the gym. In the hotel room, I connect my tablet PC to our server via a secure line. Then I dictate the claim directly into the computer. The speech recognition system converts the dictation into written characters. After revising it I finish the complaint. I sign the complaint electronically, attach the supplementary documents and send the whole thing to the court. I receive the notice of receipt and save it in the lawyer’s software along with the written pleading that was sent.
I feel good and go to the gym.
Paperless life is light and easy now. Do you agree? What are your examples?
