I had a court date in Munich about a major construction case. I was flying with seven big folders in a suitcase too big for hand luggage. The plane was delayed and arriving in Munich my suitcase was the last one to appear in the baggage carousel. With this heavy load I ran to the public transportation. My arm got longer and longer. I arrived at the subway station near the court 5 minutes before the start of the appointment. I had to jog otherwise I’d be late. At the entrance was a security check, I told the security staff the appointment actually starts right now but I was asked to unpack my suitcase completely!
I hurried up the stairs to the courtroom and arrived 20 minutes late, which earned me a derisive remark from the judge that my Prussian virtues are not so good.
On the way back from the court to the airport the zipper of the suitcase broke and all the contents emptied onto the platform. I gathered up the folders and bought a belt for the suitcase at the airport. In Berlin I had to wait again an awfully long time to get the suitcase back. The next day at the office, my colleague cheered that I should go to the gym and build up my muscles, then I would be able to cope better with such a trip. Besides, it was a good workout. I signed up at the gym in the same evening.
